The Master hopes to see many Freemen and Liverymen at the Service. It is a Church of England service and is open to those of all faiths or none. As always a theme of the Service will be light, and the tools of the glaziers’ craft are carried up and laid on the altar and blessed. This year we will be privileged to be presenting tools used by the Master Glazier. The preacher is the Cathedral’s Dean, and Freeman by Gift, the Very Revd Dr Mark Oakley. It is a warm and friendly annual occasion, much enjoyed by all, and an opportunity to meet friends and future friends from within and without the Company
Southwark Cathedral is possibly the only cathedral with a stained glass window portraying Lady Macbeth. It commemorates Southwark’s most famous parishioner, William Shakespeare. Come and see how many other characters from his plays you can spot. Two of the panels designed by school students with the Charity’s support are on display there.

Admittance to the Cathedral is, of course, free of charge, but you are encouraged to make a donation towards the work and upkeep of the Cathedral, via contactless donation points available there. There is a £10 fee if staying for the drinks in the retrochoir but not attending supper. We hope to have a couple of members helping us learn more about the work done by the Glaziers’ Charity and the volunteering opportunities it offers.
The Service and reception at the Cathedral will be followed by a light supper with wine in the River Room at Glaziers Hall. The cost is £75 for the reception and supper, held at last year’s price. Bookings close on 1 June and cancellations cannot be refunded after that date.
