Philanthropy in Action

The Glaziers’ Charity brings together all the various charitable activities initiated by the Worshipful Company over many years. As the Charity continues to expand and diversify the work which it undertakes, the level of support afforded to the art and craft of stained glass in all its forms will grow.

Our activities include encouraging young people to discover stained glass and supporting them along the career path; making grants for conservation of stained glass and running a repository to prevent the loss of significant glass, and maintaining a Thames Cutter to help disadvantaged young people in south East London.

Annual awards for established and emerging glass artists and conservators

Emerging stained glass artists and conservators may be eligible for funded work placements in established studios. There are also schemes for awards for business and professional development.

Stained Glass Repository

The Stained Glass Repository is part of the Glaziers’ Charity (registered charity no. 1143700). It seeks to prevent the loss of glass of significant artistic merit, most often from redundant churches, and to find new homes for it in other public buildings.

The Cutter Trust

The Cutter Trust, part of the Glaziers’ Charity, was set up in 1996 to help the disadvantaged of all ages in South East London by encouraging them to learn about river craft and rowing and enjoy water sports and other activities.

Grants for conserving stained glass

Our grants are available to ecclesiastic and other public buildings exclusively for the conservation of historic and/or artistically significant stained and architectural glass.

The Glaziers’ Education Partnership

The Glaziers’ Education Partnership is a range of initiatives for young people highlighting the dynamic possibilities of stained glass in communities and the built environment. It provides opportunities for young people to learn more about the art and craft of stained glass, its history and cultural impact; and how it can be used as a medium for creative expression.

Our charitable work is spearheaded by The Glaziers’ Charity, Registered Charity No.1143700. Its many achievements wouldn’t be possibly without the generous support of people like you.
