Toby Britton-Watts, a Stained Glass Craftsperson apprentice at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Heritage Crafts ‘Trainee of the Year’ Award.
The award celebrates emerging talent dedicated to preserving the UK’s traditional crafts. Toby is one of just three national finalists.
Currently training with Holy Well Glass in Wells, Somerset, Toby combines hands-on restoration work with study through UWTSD.
Toby said: “It’s a real honour to be shortlisted. Working with historic stained glass connects me to centuries of artistic and cultural heritage while developing vital conservation skills for the future.”
The Heritage Crafts Awards, which are supported by The Royal Mint and Wentworth Woodhouse, celebrate the people who keep endangered crafts alive. The winners will be announced Monday 17 November 2025.
