Workshop in York with US artist Kathy Jordan: 2-4 July 2027

Glaziers’ Company Freeman & acclaimed US-based glass artist Kathy Jordan is coming to the UK and offering a unique practical learning experience. A workshop will take place at Barley Studio, York, hosted by Upper Warden Helen Whittaker MBE, from 2-4 July 2027.

Kathy Jordan’s workshop will explore a painterly approach to figurative work that will allow the artist to apply a range of tonal values in one application. Students will learn how to apply and blend a water based medium utilizing square sable shaders. The workshop will cover the importance of line work, additive and reductive techniques, paint density and the relationship between paint media and brushes. Step-by-step demonstrations will support a fast-paced class.

The workshop is open to all, and the cost to attend the three-day workshop will be £485 including tools and materials. We anticipate that there will be high demand for places and may consider offering an additional workshop in London.
