A window by Liveryman Derek Hunt for St Martin’s Church in East Horsley, Surrey has won the 2025 Guildford Design Award in the Public Realm category.
St Martin’s Church in East Horsley wanted a permanent memorial to the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and decided to commission a new stained glass window in the North Transept, that would symbolize both the losses suffered and the hope and compassion shown within the community.
Derek’s design is centred on the symbol of the English oak tree to convey themes of steadfastness in the face of adversity, of regeneration and recovery, and of growth and renewal through the Christian virtues of Faith, Hope and Love.
