The Master Glazier is holding a series of 2-day workshops at his studio in Shoreditch over the course of his year as Master. The first of these was held earlier this month, and was a huge success. John Reyntiens and his colleague Mai-Loan Tu are brilliant tutors and so patient, and it was a very intense and rewarding experience.
Adrian and Debbie Aplin, Ling Jin, Paul Rogers, Pascale Spencer and Liz Wicksteed started on Saturday with blank sheets of paper, zero skills, and bucketloads of enthusiasm, and finished on Sunday with a panel each that we had designed, drawn cut lines for, chosen and cut the glass, ground the edges, painted and fired it, leaded it and soldered it. Here we are with the finished works and with a huge sense of achievement.

Feedback from the first event included:
“It was absolutely fantastic. As somebody without a single artistic bone in his body, I could not believe that under John’s guidance I was able to produce a credible fully completed panel of relevance to me in just 2 days.”
“Not to be missed ! An inspirational and most enjoyable experience designing and making your own stained glass panel with the Master Glazier !”
“John was incredibly generous with his amazing materials that he had collected from around the world.”
“Spending 2 days in the Reyntiens studio was amazing and John shared 2 generations of tricks and techniques that gave a unique insight to the art and craft.”
“We are all knackered and proud and full to the brim of admiration for John and Mai-Loan”.
This opportunity is unique to this year and goes to the very heart of what this Livery is about. The weekend is worth every penny.
